Workout Schedule: Hakutsuru Kan Dojo

January through June 2010 

 

Jan. 30...  Tuite Workshop at the Hakutsuru Kan Dojo starting at 9:00 am ending at 4:00 pm.

               We work on blending your tuite technique with your opponent’s attack, where this is found in kata,

               the how and why about tuite. This will be the first of a series of 3 Seminars on Tuite.

               Cost: $40 for members and $50 for non-members. Please RSVP by Jan. 27.


Jan. 31… Hakutsuru (White Crane) Study Group begins its 2010 activities with a series of seminars to be held

               the last Sunday of each month Jan. thru Oct. 2010. Seminars will cover kata and application of kata.

               This series of seminars will be held at Charlie Dean’s Kodokan Dojo near Montgomery, Texas.

               Call Sensei Dean at 936-537-0525 for details.


Feb. 27…At the Hakutsuru Kan Dojo near Bastrop Texas we will hold our 2nd seminar on Tuite.

              In this class we will continue with blending techniques and use these techniques to capture your opponent’s

              attack and deal with it accordingly.

              Cost is $40 for members and $50 for non members. Please RSVP by Feb. 24.


Feb. 28…At Charlie Dean’s Kodokan Dojo near Montgomery, TX our Hakutsuru Study Group will meet.

              We will study kata and how to create “Hands of Steel and Arms of Cotton” with ancient Sanchin Kata.

              This prepares you to apply crane techniques. The crane kata then teaches you to uses these hands of

              steel in actual combat. Call Charlie Dean for details.


Mar 26, 27, 28…At Charlie Dean’s Kodokan Dojo we will begin a series of three seminars on Kobujutsu to be held during 2010.

                        Starting at 2:00 pm Friday, March 26 We will concentrate on the Shiushi or Shuji no Kon (Koryu).

                        This is not the newer Shiushi no Kon… Sho or Dai but the older ancestor of these kata.

                        Saturday, March 27 at 9:00 am we work on the older of the Sakugawa no Kon Kata, Sakugawa no Kon (Chu)

                        or middle kata. We will finish on Saturday at about 4:30 pm. On Sunday, March 28 we will start at 9:00 am with a

                        review of both the Shiushi and Sakugawa kata. We will finish about 2:00 pm Sunday.

                        Cost $75 for members and $100 for non members. Please RSVP by March 5. Call for details.


2010 Kobujutsu Study Group Seminars

1.      Mar. 26, 27, 28 Kodokan Dojo near Montgomery Tx.

2.      July 9, 10, 11 Fighting with weapons and Ichi Gina Pai Sai Kata

      This is performed with a pair of Geta (wooden clogs) Bastrop Tx.

3.   Oct. 10, 12, 14 Montgomery Tx.


Apr. 24….At the Hakutsuru Kan Dojo near Bastrop, Tx. our 3rd Tuite seminar will be held.

               We will work on the “Rolling the ball” and throwing techniques of Okinawa karatejutsu.

               You will learn why Okinawan Sensei do not teach throws.

               Cost $40 for members and $50 for non-members. RSVP by Mar. 24


Apr. 25…At Charlie Dean’s Kodokan Dojo our Hakutsuru Study Group will meet to practice kata and fighting

              techniques and kata bunkai. Check with Charlie Dean for details.


May 14, 15 and 16…Hakutsuru Kan’s Annual Kata Festival and Kobujutsu Seminar (Old Fighting Arts) \

                              Starting Friday at 2:00 pm we will start with training on understanding and crossing the

                              Maai or Combat distance…we will examine Pai Sai, Gojushiho, Chatan Yara no kun and

                              Chikin nu Bo and Kiai jutsu to find our methods of crossing the maai.

                              Saturday morning at 9:00 am we will practice change body (dodging) and Irimi or entering to defeat

                              our opponent. At 2:00 pm we will begin our kata festival …be prepared to demonstrate your favorite kata….

                              where applicable the history and oral traditions of kata will be discussed.

                              After the kata festival we’ll have a Tex-Mex Fajita Dinner and after the dinner will be time to socialize (BYOB). 

                              The cost for every thing is  $70 for members and $80 for non members.

                              There is no cost for those attending only the Kata Festival. Please RSVP by May 7.


June 26… At the Hakutsuru Kan Dojo near Bastrop, TX. we review the Rohai Kata of Shorin Ryu Matsumura Seito.

               Cost is $40 for members and $50 for non-members. Please RSVP by June 23.


June 27…At Charlie Dean’s Kodokan Dojo the Hakutsuru Study Group will meet.

              I’ll be teaching the very old kata of Pai Ho (Mandran Chinese for white crane) plus kata application.
